Charlie Rusbridge became the first player in 17 years to win back-to-back Justin Rose Telegraph Junior Championships. In the 40th anniversary of the event, he won by three shots with a total score of -4 over the three rounds. Leading by three shots going into the final round, he showed real maturity and a great mentality to hold off strong competition from the other players and take the victory.
The event was played at the beautiful Quinta do Lago in Portugal. Justin Rose couldn’t attend this year due to competing in the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas. However, he did call Charlie to congratulate him on his win, which was a really nice gesture.
Charlie now prepares to play on the Portugal Pro Tour in January, competing as an amateur. He will also take part in the newly launched European Golf Federation Elite Amateur Order of Merit Tour, which consists of 15 European events with DP World and HotelPlanner on offer. The first event is the Portuguese Amateur, being played at Amendoeira Golf Resort, starting on 14th February.
