Salobre Golf resort didn’t disappoint for CGA’s 2nd winter golf trip

CGA Head Professionals Tom Hide and Scott Rusbridge have recently returned from their 2nd winter golf trip, this time to Salobre golf resort in Gran Canaria. The group was made up of 18 golfers and 4 non golfers. The golfers enjoyed a mixture of coaching, practice and playing during the day and then were joined by the non golfers in the evenings. The food in the hotel was exceptional and after enjoying their meals, everyone who wanted, ventured to the nearest town of Maspalomas to enjoy some live music and a few further drinks!
During the 4 rounds of golf there were daily competitions and overall winners for the week. There was also a hole in one on the 4th hole of the old course by Mick Payne which was his first hole in one ever!
Many golfers returned better scores than their handicap during the week with James Card from Colne Valley scoring 48 points on the 2nd Day!!
Noticeable winners were Sarah Glew from Colne Valley who has only been playing just over a year winning the overall prize for the 25+ handicap category and Gerry Duffy from Frinton winning the overall winner for the 0-24  handicap category. James Card from Colne Valley and Kevin White who joined us from Northampton won their respective eclectics.
The trip enable the established golfers to enjoy the warm weather on the challenging old course. The plan for the newer golfers that attended was for them to gain confidence through daily coaching, reinforcing their key areas to help them improve and putting their skills to the test on the course. Most importantly it helped build the enthusiasm to really embrace the game fully in 2024.
There one was day off from golf offered during the week but 8 golfers included Tom went and played Meloneras Golf Club which has previously hosted a DP World Tour event. The non golfing guests during the week enjoyed all that the hotel has to offer including the Spa and the sunset 11th floor infinity pool and bar.
The feedback from the holiday so far has been really positive which Tom and Scott are both delighted to receive. Their next trip is to Penina in Portugal before returning to Gran Caneria in March. There are limited spots available on both trips, anyone that maybe interested in joining them for either of the trips please email thomas@coastalgolfacademy.co.uk or call him on 07940 510 450. Thanks to everyone that attended who made it a truly memorable trip.
