Jago’s day at the Colne Valley Junior Open

Successful Junior Open with some terrific golf played

Colne Valley hosted our 2nd Junior Open of the season and our juniors made home advantage count, The Open was also part of the Essex Community Tour. There were 62 juniors taking part which was another great turnout. The course played superb and the junior’s golf didn’t disappoint. CGA’s Jago Hepburn representing Harwich Golf Club scored a brilliant 48 stableford points off his handicap of 14 to win the under 14 category. The winner of the Under 18 category was another CGA junior, Mia Barningham who scored an exceptional 44 points. Our CGA juniors from Colne Valley also took runner up and 3rd spot in the under 18 category with Abigail March scoring 41 points and in form Daniel Wallace scoring 41 points off his handicap of 5.
The other prize winners from the under 14 handicap were CGA junior Chelsey Duffy from Frinton who scored 41 points taking the runner up prize pipping Henry Pepper from Braintree Golf Club who also scored 41 just missing out on countback taking 3rd place. We also had a prize category for boys with 29-36 handicaps, the winner was Colne Valley’s Thomas Cooper who scored 39 points.
Our thank must go to Colne Valley and to the county officals Lawrence Kingsnorth and Bill Dunbar for the assistance in running the event. We are proud of the success of our 2 junior Opens and would like to thank all the parents and juniors that have supported our events.
