For many years CGA have worked with Colne Community College to offer the Colne Golf Academy. The program is aimed specifically at 16-18-year olds who have the potential to become elite golfers.
As from next September the Program is changing significantly and will now be renamed the Sigma Sixth Golf Academy. Students studies will be at either the Sigma Tendring Campus at the old Bishops Park site or the Sigma Sixth Colchester site at Phillip Morant school.
The golf element of the program will continue to be held at either Frinton Golf Club or Colne Valley Golf Club.
Students work towards their Level 3 BTEC National Certificate in Sport, while improving their game and honing their techniques. The course provides an excellent platform to becoming a professional golfer and for higher-education courses in sports subjects.
There have already been a number of applications and it is hoped that numbers will allow the students to compete in the national college golf league.
