On Sunday 26th May Frinton Golf Club hosted the CGA Junior Open which is part of the Essex Golf Union’s Community Tour
69 Junior took part in the Open with juniors coming from across Essex. The course was playing well with a testing breeze for the juniors to compete with.
The juniors were split into 2 ages groups, Under 14’s and Under 18’s. There were some superb scores, non more so than Colne Valley’s Ralph Barker Smith who returned an amazing 47 points to win the Under 14 category. The other Under 14 category winner was Colchester Edward Mason who scored a very credible 39 points.
The higher handicap category of the Under 18’s was won by Chelmsford’s Lauren Gowers with a great score of 41 points. The lower handicap category was won by Max Oats with 37 points who plays at Woolston Manor Golf Club.
We are now looking forward to or next Junior Open which will be played at Colne Valley Golf Club on Sunday 14th July.
